Recap: Jesper Sørensen and Axel Schuster Meet and Greet

A huge thank you to all the supporters who joined us on February 17th at Fable Diner and Bar for the Jesper Sørensen and Axel Schuster Meet & Greet! With over 55 supporters in attendance, along with Whitecaps staff and coaches, the event was a packed house filled with great energy and insightful conversation.
It was a great chance before the event to mingle, chat and get excited about the upcoming season. Luke did a great job modelling the newest Whitecaps FC jacket that got released days earlier at the Annual Season Kickoff Party

Bunny who is one of the most creative supporters we know gifted us some new crocheted creations in the form of bunnies. She has created so many items over the years and they are always unique and adorable.

Then it was time for the main attraction and we got a chance to listen to Jesper Sørensen and Axel Schuster share their thoughts on the team, the club’s culture, and the season ahead. Some standout moments from the discussion:
“All the tough questions to Axel.”
Jesper, keeping things light

“I would like to thank everyone, including our former head coach, for creating the culture we have.”
Axel, on the strong foundation at VWFC
“The squad, the team, the players—everyone has been working hard on the training ground, and that comes from the former head coach.”
Jesper

“We’re looking at signing at least two more players before the window closes.”
“Good players for us are not judged by the dollars we spend.”
Axel, on potential roster addition and recruitment approach
“A good process leads to good results.”
Axel

“GlassCity is wrong, he’ll be back in 2-3 weeks.”
Axel, on Sabbi’s return timeline
“It’s not about age, it’s about how good you are.”
Jesper, on player selection

“Give them a good goal or task.”
Jesper, on motivating players
It was a great chance to hear from some of the other coaches and Vancouver Whitecaps FC staff as well. They gave us a quick bio of themselves and then shared what they do.

Congratulations to Haochen, who won the Vancouver Whitecaps jacket in our door prize raffle!
And, of course, a massive thank you to Fable Diner and Bar and their incredible staff. Their hospitality, delicious food, and great service make events like this possible.
We appreciate all of you who came out to support and connect. Let’s keep this momentum going, see you at the next event!
